Beta Sneaky Victoria Bristol Levels Up

Upgrades Her Ship To The Crimson Hound

Yesterday Victoria completed a “boat load” of little quests around the Skull Island Skyways and Flotsam which provided her enough points to level up to a 12th ranked pirate. Yeah! I’ve been waiting for this for a while because at this level, Victoria can purchase a new ship!

She ran down to the ship shop on the Flotsam docks and picked up a beautiful Galleon that she named: The Crimson Hound. What better name for a wolf ship!

She rushed over to the Parts Vendor and picked up a few extras for her  new ship too. She picked up:

  • Galleon Light Armor which boosts hull integrity.
  • Rigged Top Sails which boosts ship speed.
  • Honed Rudder which boosts maneuverability.
  • Nautilus Figurehead which gives fiery long and short range shot.
  • Copper Macehead Anchor which boosts fuel capacity and consumption.
  • Flame Bolt which provides a nice flaming attack, but also increases hull repair.
  • Reinforced Wheel which increases turning speed and ship speed.
  • Bronze Cannons which increase cannon damage.

It’s worth upgrading both your ship when you can, and your equipment. Each time you level up, check to see what you can upgrade with both your personal pirate accessories, hat, cloths, weapons and your ship and ship equipment. It’s not only exciting, but it makes battles easier and more interesting too!

Beta Work Around – Michael Stone

The Disappearing Captain Michael Stone

After the game update on Sept. 27th, there has been an issue with completing the Message in a Bottle quest.  You receive the quest in Flotsom and discover that the Captain was shrunk with his ship and placed in a bottle with it. Egads!

Your mission is to save the captain from the bottle. Once you have completed all the required elements, you are sent to the Watermole Village on Skull Island to talk to the captain. You might see him at first, but when you approach him, he disappears.

Or you can approach him and talk to him for the first section of his conversation. He thanks you and says he has a treasure for you in return. After he finishes those first words he disappears before he can give you the treasure and complete the quest.

Dead-Eye Morgan said: “Maybe he went back into the bottle but no one else in the village will talk to me about it.” (If you don’t read the community Message Board on Pirate101, you’re missing out on some pretty good laughs). Not to mention some great ideas for getting around some of the remaining bugs in the game. Continue reading

Really Big Updates on 09/26

Pirate101 Beta TestKI Makes Several Small Tweaks and Adjustments

If you were excited to participate in the Ship Party on Wednesday and were disappointed it was cancelled, here’s you’re chance to find out why. Check out One-Eyed Jack’s Captain’s Log—Spiral Date 413802

Check out the updates that occurred Wednesday evening and see what’s been done to the game to prepare Pirate101 for its opening day!

And if you were like us and you showed up for the party anyway, you got a chance to see a lot ships hanging out in the Skull Island Skyway. It was truly awesome. I wish I had thought about it last night and had taken a screen shot to mark the event. But I didn’t think about that until today. Even at 7:30 there were 10 to 15 ships gathered around checking each other out. It was truly a neat thing to see.

Jack has mentioned that the party wasn’t completely cancelled, it’s simply been rescheduled. So stay tuned and look for the next gathering coming soon to a skyway near you!

Pirate101 Ship Party

We’re throwing a game-wide ship party this Wednesday at 7:00pm Eastern!

Bring your best ship and prepare to recreate your own version of Flotsam with all the other players of Pirate101. After a few cool screenshots of our groups, we’re encouraging the entire fleet of players to destroy Cutthroat and Waponi ships in a giant mass as we all slowly sail our way to Jonah Town!

Woohoo!! It’s Party Time!!

Date: this Wednesday, 26 September 2012

What: The Beta Ship Party!

Where: Avery Server (In as many areas as we can accommodate) between the Blood Shoals and Skull Island proper in the Skull Island Skyway (you know . . . it’s that big safe area between the windlanes just outside of Skull Island from the Skull Island Docks! Just look for the mass of ships hanging out!)

When: 6:00 – 6:30pm Central / 7:00 – 7:30pm Eastern (feel free to keep the party going afterwards!)

Who: Everybody in Beta who can captain a ship of any kind! Come meet other players and introduce yourself!

Why: We’re having a giant ship party

1- to get a lot of users online at once.
2- to test what it’s like out there in the skyways when you get a lot of ships together in one place, and
3- TO HAVE FUN! We know when the game launches our awesome players will find every reason to party, and we think that’s awesome.

We’ll see you there!
