Companion Promotion – Louis Le Bisque

Louis Le Bisque Crab Harpooner

Louis Le Bisque
Crab Gunner

The Swashbuckler’s Horse Companion

If you choose a Musketeer as your pirate class, you will discover Louis Le Bisque near the start of the game. He’s in the Kracken Tavern Cellar when you first begin your quest to find Gunn’s treasure. Louis will be the one arguing with Ratbeard, when he steals the map and tells his rat gang to “Get ’em boys”.

You can visit our Companion Guide to find a list of all the companions available to each Pirate class within the game. Or return to our Epic Promotion guides for Pirate101 Companions.

When you first meet Louis he is a Crab Harpooner. You can learn much more about his abilities and skills from Pirate101 Central.

As you level up your companions they will occasionally reach epic promotion opportunities. Louis’s first epic promotion occurs when he is promoted to Level 15.

After you applied training points and he reaches this level, he’ll tell you he needs to speak with you. Let’s go to a nearby Tavern so you can talk.

In the Tavern he’ll tell you “Capitain! I am, as you know, an expert Harpooner. But, one can always be better, yes? I fear that my Harpoon Gun, she is getting old. There is, I think, someone who can help. Anne knows him – a Fox in Gullet. He is an Engineer, a genius. Let us go see this Lucius, yes?” And you’ll be off to Jonah Town.

This quest will require you to have access to Valencia.

The Skull Island Skyway
Head off to or teleport to Skull Island in the Skull Island Skyway.

Then make your way to Jonah Town and Gullet where you can meet up with Lucius Fox. You’ll find him in his work shop.

promo-louis2There he will tell Louis that it’s not a new gun he needs, but rather better gun powder and for that you need to visit Valencia and find the recipe I mean.. the Formula for “Fusilier Powder”. It’s the best gun powder in the skyway.

You and your crew head off to Valencia to visit the Librarian who might have the book with the Formula in it. Of course it’s not that easy. The book is gone and the Librarian has no clue what the Formula is. After all, he’s a Librarian not a Chemist.  But hey, you’re in Sivella where all the knowledgeable professors are, go see the Chemist.

promo-louis3Over in the East Wing of the Library you’ll find the Chemistry Hall. Introduce yourself and Louis to Chemist Ludovico. He’ll tell you the Formula is a state secret, but he agrees to help you out. But first you need to help him out.

It seems Ludovico doesn’t know the formula but if you can bring him some Fusilier Powder he could discover the formula through analysis! And he’ll send you off to collect 4 samples of the powder in the Aragon Skyway.

The ships you’re looking for are part of the  Vanguard Squadron and they  will be near Granchia. Be careful as you engage in battle with them. Hovering around each Vanguard ship is an Armada ship. If you aren’t careful in where you position your ship to do battle with the Vanguard, you could end up in battle with both of these Armada ships at the same time.

Once you have the samples of powder, head back to Sivella and talk to Chemist Ludovico. He’ll analyze the powder and give you the formula. It’s much easier to pop back to Skull Island from here and save yourself the long sail through the multiple storm gates. Once you’re back in the Skull Island Skyway, head on over to Jonah Town and give Lucius Fox what he needs to make up the powder.

“We have done it! Now Captain, to the Tavern to celebrate, yes?” suggests Louis. Well of course. Go back up stairs and take the crew to the cellar to celebrate. Once in the tavern Louis will tell you he’s “Reporting for duty, Capitain! With this new Fusilier Powder, I feel like a new Gunner! How do you say, Yar! Ha!” and with that he will be promoted from a Crab Harpooner to a Crab Gunner.

Epic Promotion Number Two:

Louis’s next promotion will come when he reaches level 37. At this level he will take the opportunity to become a Crab Cannoneer.

My Louis has a bit farther to go before he reaches this level. But as soon as he does, I’ll update his Quest page.
