The Year Of The Horse

Friday, January 31 marks the beginning of the Spring Festivals in several different cultures. For the Chinese, it’s  two weeks where families around the world will gather for commemorations with dances, fireworks, meals, gifts of money in red envelopes and decorations with handwritten poetry, culminating with the Lantern Festival on the 15th day of the first month in the lunar year.  Read more at TIME.com

Each year of the Lunar calendar in China has a corresponding animal from the Chinese zodiac. And today marks the turnover from the Year of the Snake to the Year of the Horse.
