The Clandestine Trainers
In August 2015, the Royals at KingsIsle introduced the Secret Class Trainers. Tucked away in a hidden location you’ll find these mysterious strangers ready to teach you some powerful battle techniques. These trainers are available to all pirates, once your Captain reaches Level 20.
There are 3 of these Clandestine trainers.
- Firenzian the trainer for ranged attacks
- Lost Hoplite the trainer for melee attacks
- Kurotadori the trainer for magic attacks
Each Trainer provides training for extra talents. But it will cost you 1 Practice Point for each additional ability.
Clandestine Cave Location
By the time you reach level 20, you should know where Devil Fish Hollow is. But just in case you can’t remember, it’s in the Skull Island Skyway, deep inside Corsair’s Channel.
To the east of the Channel, you’ll find a mysterious dock known as Devil Fish Landing. Which will lead you to a cave, known as Devil Fish Hollow.
You’ve been here before, to the Meeting and Fiddler’s Cave. Straight ahead from the southern entrance, you’ll see a ladder. Climb down. Run to the left, as far as you can.
Run past the ramp to the lower level, keep going past the tiki statue, to the very end of the cliff by the mushroom (see the yellow X on the map above), you’ll find a Katipo Slingman standing guard on the lower level. When you approach him by the cliff, you’ll be pulled into a battle. Doing this will let you skip the first set of Katipo warriors in this first section of the Hollow.
The moment you’ve won the battle and have become invisible, quickly run down the next ramp and through the shark jaw cave. If you run on the right by the wall, you can avoid the next battles with more Katipo warriors.
Now on the lower level with the Sharks, you’ll probably get into at least one more battle. When you can, run to the right and down into the area with the large shark jaw. On the far side of the jaw, you’ll find a small cave with the trap door.
Beneath this secret trap door is the Clandestine Cave, where you’ll find the trainers. But there’s only one trainer every hour. They change, on an hourly schedule and throughout the entire day.
Trainer Schedules
The Clandestine trainers aren’t just standing around waiting for you to arrive. They have schedules to keep. The Royals at KingsIsle, live in Texas, U.S.A. So the following schedule is based on their Central time zone.
For those of you just learning about time zones, 3 am in Texas, is 4am in the East (like Virginia and New York). And 2am in the West (like California and Oregon).

Clandestine Abilities
Each trainer provides their own set of abilities. Many of these clandestine abilities require a Pirate to have prerequisite talents that you can acquire from the Class Trainers in Avery’s Court. In some cases, you made need to visit a different class trainer from your own.
Musketeer Abilities
To attain the required prerequisite, visit Ol’ Fish Eye in the Musketeer’s Roost in Avery’s Court
