Quest Journal – Nightmare Brass Monkey

Count Brastillo de Brass
– The Brass Monkey

Nightmare Count Brastillo de Brass
In The World of Dreams

In the first release of the World of Dreams, in August 2018, the Royals at KingsIsle introduced Four new Nightmare Boss battles. These battles are intensely difficult and designed for top-level players and as team up opportunities. The Brass Monkey is one of these nightmare challenges.

Like all of the Nightmare battles, you will need an Obsidian Key to enter the Count’s battle room inside the World of Dreams.

Pirates first face off with the Brass Monkey in the Tradewinds Skyway inside The Antilles Maelstrom. You face off with him in order to gain entry into Port Regal, when he’s a Level 26 foe.

The Nightmare Battle
The battle with the Brass Monkey in the World of Dreams, is based on that initial battle.  But don’t think that makes his Obsidian battle a piece of cake. He has some special talents that can easily defeat a Pirate Captain and their crew.

For more information, check out the Creature page for Nightmare Brass Monkey on Pirate101.Central’s website.

Unlike the previous battles with the Brass Monkey which occur on a ship, the Nightmare Monkey takes place on land. So you’ll have a little bit more room to maneuver. The elements of the first battle are utilized in the Nightmare version, but at a higher and more destructive level.

The Count himself will be Level 79, and his initial minions range from Level 75 to 78. When we played with a team of 2, we faced 2 Berserker Cats and 2 Crazy Water Mole Witchdoctor minions. The more members you have on your team, the more of these opponents you’ll face.

If you’ll notice the Water Mole and Berserker Cat only have 100 and 200 life expectancy. They’re easily killed when you target them. But take note of their levels. At Level 75 and 78, they do way more damage than their life would suggest and they can defeat you and your crew fairly easily. Especially if you’re facing them as a Level 70 Pirate. So don’t take them for granted.

Unlike the other Nightmare battles, The Monkey Count is not immune during this battle. So try to target him from the start. If you can take him out in the first or at least the 2nd round,  you have a chance on winning this battle by yourself. But one of his special powers, like all the Nightmare Bosses is that he can summon minions to help him.  He will do this with each turn, so it won’t take long for you and your crew to be quickly outnumbered.

The Count also has the ability to drop bombs on the battleboard. And because he’s a Level 79 opponent, those bombs can do a significant amount of damage to you and your crew!

Thankfully, if you defeat the Brass Monkey, you will defeat all of his called minions. But you’ll still have to take out his initial crew of the Unicorn Rogue and Rat Scoundrel. So stay vigilant.

Once you have defeated the Count and won the battle, you’ll find an initial badge in your backpack. Keep finding Obsidian keys and defeat these Nightmare Bosses over and over again to attain the Collection badge for this battle!

I’m assuming that, like all Collection badges, once you’ve defeated a Boss 10 times, you’ll be presented with a new Collection badge to defeat the boss 25 times and so on. Much like the badges for defeating Moo Manchu. So keep battling!

Good luck!
