Another bottle washed up on shore today from the Pirate101 Skyway. The note inside share some interesting news.
This is the first time we’ve seen the new Member Specials icon appear in the Live version of the game. When you see this icon appear in-game, it means a new special promotion has begun for Members Only. For those of you who weren’t able to visit the Test Realm a few weeks ago, here’s what it looks like:
Our first Member promotion has begun!
Now through 9/30, Miracle Mitch services are free for Members!
Every month special in-game promotions will pulse for Pirates with a Membership! These limited time benefits include:
As you level up your companions they will occasionally reach epic promotion opportunities. When you first meet Old Scratch he is an Undead Witchdoctor. This is his fourth epic promotion and it occurs when he reaches Level 70.
You can learn much more about his abilities and skills at this level from Pirate101 Central. At the end of this promotion quest, he becomes a Skeletal Shaman.
Undead Bokor – Level 24 Promotion
Undead Hougan – Level 35 Promotion
Skeletal Shaman – Level 70 Promotion
After you’ve applied your training points and Scratch levels up, he’ll tell you he needs to speak with you. Let’s go to a nearby Tavern so you can talk.
In the Tavern he’ll tell you The other side is hungry and that he feels dark powers moving, at the edges of his sight. He explains this sensation is like a nightmare, and the Old Scratch waits beyond for his doom! He’ll tell you that his magic is no match for this and you must head off to talk to Vadima. This world isn’t like going from Skull Island to Marleybone. It’s more like a dungeon that you can enter, exit and come back to over and over again.
The World of Dreams begins at the Obsidian Door on the Scrimshaw Docks. Once you’ve docked, run to the right of the ships and head over to the Dock Warehouses. At the end of the row of the buildings, you’ll the doorway and sigil.
Inside the Obsidian Door you’ll find a place that looks like the many sewers of the Spiral. But these corridors lead to some spooky locked doors that require a Skeleton Key to open them. Behind these doors you’ll find old enemies who have been leveled up to “Skeleton Key Bosses”.
Anyone can step on the sigil, these battles are designed for teams. If you enter as a team, one of you will need to have a skeleton key so everyone can enter the boss door. You can take on these bosses in a solo run, but expect it to be difficult. Or you can team up with a various number of other Pirate Captains and take on the Bosses together. Continue reading →
While you’re sailing through the spiral, you will come across different skyways within a single world. For instance, in Skull Island you’ll travel through the Skull Island skyway, but you’ll also visit the Tradewinds Skyway, Flotsom Skyway and the Port Regal Skyway. These skyways are all within the world of Skull Island.
During your travels you will come across Windstones that provide you with a key to activate Stormgates. Windstones were first discovered by the people of Valencia, who used them to travel through the otherwise impassable Stormgates. They are powerful crystals that come in a variety of colors. And they are required to enter the Stormgates.
Stormgates are openings between worlds. These areas also have windlanes that take you from the gate of one world to another. And you’ll find beasties and enemy ships, along with a few treasures in these areas as well.
You’ll also notice a few world bubbles floating around in the sky of these stargates. Some you are probably familiar with. But some you spy, might be new worlds that have not yet been released by the Royals at KingsIsle.
As you’re traveling around the Stargates, don’t forget to look around. You might see something that gives you hint of what might be coming soon in the Spiral. Here’s a chart for the worlds I’ve seen floating in the stargates. Some I know and some I haven’t the faintest clue. Maybe you’ve seen these too. Continue reading →
You have three areas to store you loot as you travel through the spiral. When you win a battle or find a chest, the loot you win will first be stored in your backpack.
The more you battle, the more loot you’ll pick up until your backpack can’t hold any more items. If you don’t move those items, don’t worry, you won’t lose you booty. It will automatically be moved to your Captain’s Bank.
You can access your bank, in your Captain’s dorm room, house or from you Captain’s Cabin.
Protect Your Booty
I’ve received items from a battle that I haven’t been able to use yet. I used to put these things in my Bank back at the house so I didn’t accidentally sell them. Now, you’ll find a new button at the bottom of your backpack to protect items you want to keep safe from being sold. Continue reading →
