MMO Terminology

What Does That Mean

You might be surprised to know that online gaming isn’t just for kids or young adults. The large variety of games can attract people of all ages to spend their weekends, or evenings letting go of stress and frustrations by blowing up buildings, killing monsters or just letting out some steam.

Pirate101 is one of these games. Back in 2013 AARP Highlighted both Wizard101 and Pirate101 as beneficial games for older adults.

If you’re a gamer you already know all of these gaming terms. But if your new to online gaming, or you’re an older adult just getting into gaming you may have seen these acronyms in the news, or heard your kids or grandkids talking, or perhaps you read them on a game blog like this one and wondered what they stand for or what these gaming folks are talking about.

2018 Updates Go Live

The royals at KingsIsle have closed the Test Realm and moved the updates to the Live Realm! Check out what’s new in this August 2018 update. Then take time to visit old friends and discover new battles!

Or you can check out our Update Observations from the Test Realm. Unfortunately we didn’t have the time to test out all the new updates. But we got close. I have made updates to these Observations since the updates have gone live.

I suggest you start with the new Quest Finder! Then trek around the spiral to find the Bosses who are holding onto the new Skeleton Keys. And if you’re a level 70 pirate, visit with Old Scratch in a Tavern to start your promotion quest that leads to The World of Dreams!

The Quest Finder is excellent for Pirates who have been playing the game from the very beginning. For instance, my Level 70 Witchdoctor had never completed the Lizard City quest in Blood Shoals. That area was added to Skull Island when I was battling in Cool Ranch. Of course my other Pirate Captains have been through Lizard City, but I some how missed running that quest with highest and oldest Pirate Captain. Who knew!

A good idea for your higher level Pirates is to run through each world and find any quests that were added to those realms that you might have missed.

As promised by the Royals at KingsIsle, the Pirate 101 Test Realm is back open for players who would like to see and test the new updates to the spiral.

More information concerning this round updates can be found on the Pirate 101 Forum.

How Does It Work
If you’ve been to the test realm before, login as usual and the updates will be applied, just like when you log into the live game. Be patient while the new updates are added! Continue reading →

Getting Started In The Test Realm
August 31, 2018 – Updated September 7, 2018

Entering the test realm, you’ll notice that your entire crew will need to be trained. One thing that doesn’t transfer between the Live realm and the Test Realm are the talent settings for your crew. So be for warned. The first thing you’ll need to do once you enter, is to set the talents for your Crew members.

If you’re a level 70 Captain, that’s a lot of crew folks. You might want to simply set your first two or three rows, on your first crew page and leave it at that. But one member you’ll need to set for sure, is Old Scratch. Continue reading →

Yesterday, August 30, 2018, KingsIsle announced the Pirate 101 Test Realm is open for players who would like to see and test out over 1,000 updates to the game. Join players in testing a new promotion quest, quest finder feature, new skeleton key bosses, more inventory room, new pet names and many more updates. Pirate101 Will Be Offline On May 12th

The Royals on KingsIsle have sent word that Pirate101 will be offline 5/12/2014 from 3:00 am to 5:00 am US Central to bring new updates to the game!

It’s an exciting new era of Advanced Pets, Advanced Companions, new free-to-play areas, and much much more in The Spring 2014 update!

For a quick overview of the changes, you can check out this kewl Spring 2014 Update video on YouTube. And for a detailed look at all the many changes coming to Pirate101, please see the Game Update Notes page on Pirate101.com.

As these updates are made to the Live game, make note that the Test Realm will be making its departure at this same time. But it will return again when there are new things for players to test.
