Over in the World of Dreams, some new Evil doers have taken up residence. Black Annie Rackham and Verminius Blightbeard (Evil Bonnie Anne and Evil Ratbeard) are being unleashed!
The Royals from Pirate101 have announced:
The Nightmare Doors that the evil version of Old Scratch opened from the Realm of Dreams are opening again, and beyond them wait a Fox and Rat who aren’t the compatriots you know: they’re the infamous scallywags Black Annie Rackham and Vernimius Blightbeard! They’re ready to fight with evil fervor – and they’re guarding some new and shiny treasure.
These obsidian skeleton key fights are a suitable challenge for a full group of our most seasoned Pirates. Should you happen to defeat either of these fearsome foes 25 times, you’ll gain the opportunity to persuade them to join you in your voyages… that’s right, you can unlock both new companions in the Crown Shop! That’s not all – there’s some other new spoils to earn by besting these new adversaries! Challenge them often to discover what treasure they keep.
The two new Obsidian bosses in the World of Dreams appear in these battles as Level 79 to Level 82. Right now it’s near to impossible to beat these two new Bosses. By yourself or as a full team. You and your crew can only achieve Level 70, with a few exceptions for Valencian companions. But here’s what we can tell you so far:
Quest Journal – Vernimius Blightbeard
We’re working on the quest journal for Blightbeard too. It’s still in progress. We haven’t gotten past the first 2 rounds of battle yet. Not as a single player or as a team! Egads it too is a tough battle. – updated 10/12
Each Pirate class has its own set of companions that can become part of your crew. You can also buy companions from the crown shop, or in bundle packs. You can also acquire special companions through Pirate101 game promotions and Fansite contests.
Some of these special companions are offered one time only and if you don’t pick one up, you may never have a chance to acquire them again. But not to fret, you’ll probably like some of the new companions offered through game upgrades.
You can learn more about Companions on the Pirate101 Companion Wiki. And you can learn more about the quests that provide the companions on the Pirate101 Quest Wiki.
Here we have our own information about Companions that may help your questing through the Spiral.
Companion Guide – A simple list of the current companions in Pirate101 by Pirate Class. Why do some pirates battle with Subodai and others with Egg Shen? How do you acquire Mormo the Witch Doctor or Sarah Steele the Mouse Fencer? The Companion Guide can tell you who’ll find in the Spiral and how they come to be part of your crew.
If you’re new to KingsIsle games (Wizard101 and Pirate101) you’re in for some great fun. These games are wonderful for all ages and for every member of the family. Players of the original KI game Wizard101 are familiar with the little extras in these games. But if you’re new, there maybe some things you don’t know that can enhance your game play.
For instance, did you know you can take a picture of your Wizard or Character from a frontal view and using the F12 key? Or that there are hidden treasure chests all over the Spiral to find some goodies in? Continue reading →
On October 8th, KingsIsle released the production version of their new game Pirate101. We were blessed with the gift of a Beta Key and have been playing the game in test mode for quite some time. As with all test environments, they have to be updated and cleared from time to time as tweaks and fixes are put into place.
But this world of the Pirate Spiral is permanent! And it was time to make final decisions and choices on our new characters. So we’d like to introduce you to our Pirates of the Spiral!
Clumsey Aedan Hawkins
Aedan’s parents were said to have been killed by a Squid. Egads! He was raised in Grizzleheim by the rough and tumble grizzly bears. A perfect place to raise a strong and able swashbuckler!
Sly Scarlet Hawkins
Scarlet’s parents are said to have been lost in an attack on their ship by the Armada. The dastardly swines! She was young and raised in Scrimshaw on Skull Island by a wise old pirate witch. It was a great place to grow up if you’re looking for a sly and sneaky witch.
Sneaky Victoria Bristol
Victoria’s parents are said to have been lost in a shipwreck. Victims of a great storm in the skyways. Orphaned, she was raised in the quiet land of Mooshu. There she learned the skill of sword, knife and battle with her trusted friend and guardian Subodai!
We’re looking forward to our new adventures in the spiral and hope our news and updates keep you entertained. We also hope our quests journals also help you enjoy your time in the Spiral as much as we do!
Pirate101 Beta ends this Saturday, October 6th, 2012 at 5:00pm US Central. The game will remain offline until the morning of October 8th, 2012, which is when Pirate101 begins its Head Start week for those who qualify. (All Beta players qualify for the Head Start week–See you Monday!)
That means all characters and their progress will be wiped over the weekend. I hoped the wipe would take place today and the original Beta testers would be allowed back into the game Saturday morning for 2 days of play before the world gets involved. But it looks like they’re not going to be able to do that.
But not all is lost! In consolation check out the other messages from today. It appears this is one of the gifts KI will be giving to say thank you. So if you’ve been a Beta Tester (either through Beta Key or Boochbeard Bundle) you will receive a special Gift from Pirate101. Continue reading →
